Sophie & Ben’s Pennsylvania Castle Estate Wedding | Real Wedding Inspiration

With exclusive use of the Castle, a dramatic coastal setting and a celebration filled with thoughtful personal touches, Sophie and Ben’s wedding at Pennsylvania Castle Estate was the perfect blend of timeless elegance and relaxed luxury.

From a stunning pastel colour palette to unforgettable speeches and an evening of dancing, their day was a beautiful reflection of who they are as a couple.

Finding Their Perfect Venue

For Sophie and Ben, The Penn offered everything they had dreamed of in a wedding venue.

“Penn had everything we could have ever wanted. The fact that it was by the sea initially drew us to the venue, but the idea of renting the whole castle for the weekend and having accommodation for the rest of our guests on-site was a major plus for us.”

The couple instantly fell in love with the unique atmosphere of the Estate.

“The castle felt luxurious yet homely. It was unlike any other venue we visited; it had the wow factor.”

With exclusive use of the castle, accommodation for their nearest and dearest, and the dramatic Dorset coastline on their doorstep, it quickly became the perfect choice for their wedding weekend.

Elegant Styling Inspired by the Castle

When planning the look and feel of their day, Sophie and Ben wanted to enhance the beauty of the castle rather than compete with it.

“We wanted it to be minimal yet stylish, with not too many florals, since the castle itself is already breathtaking.”

Working with Dawn at Winterborne Hire & Styling, they created a sophisticated design scheme featuring soft pastel pinks and blues, delicate foliage and elegant details throughout.

“Our experience was exceptional. Dawn went above and beyond, and we couldn’t recommend Winterborne Hire & Styling enough.”

Their styling centred around carefully chosen statement pieces, including floral podiums framing the room, wreath arrangements on guest tables and candles of varying heights to create a warm, romantic atmosphere. Flowing table runners added subtle colour while maintaining the clean, elegant aesthetic they had envisioned.

Exceptional Food & Drink

A memorable dining experience was high on Sophie and Ben’s priority list, and they chose Dorset Fine Dining to create the perfect menu for their guests.

“The food was exceptional, and we worked closely with Nick and his team to pick the right dishes for our day.”

The couple also chose to supply their own drinks, giving them complete flexibility over the selection served throughout the celebration.

One sweet treat proved particularly popular:

“We supplied our guests with boutique Millionaire’s shortbread during tea and coffee, and they went down a treat. They were all gone within 30 minutes!”

Capturing Every Moment

To document their wedding day, Sophie and Ben chose photographer Charlotte Bryer-Ash and videographer Dan Pitman, both recommended suppliers at The Penn.

“We chose them based on their style, but also the fact that they were both recommended suppliers of the Penn, so they knew the best places to go for the photos and videos. It made a massive difference.”

Their knowledge of the Estate and support throughout the planning process gave the couple complete confidence leading up to the big day.

Some of Sophie and Ben’s favourite images are from their relaxed couples’ portrait session around the grounds.

“Our couple’s photos are really special to us because they aren’t too posed and capture us looking natural.”

Their wedding film has also become a treasured keepsake.

“Having the ceremony and speeches captured means we can relive these moments repeatedly and share the day with family members who were not able to make it.”

The Penn Team

Throughout their wedding journey, Sophie and Ben felt fully supported by the Pennsylvania Castle Estate Events Team.

“The team at the Penn were exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

From helping to plan the day’s timings to ensuring everything ran seamlessly on the wedding day itself, the team was there every step of the way.

“They were so professional and on hand in the lead-up to the wedding. On the day, they made sure everything ran smoothly and we didn’t have to worry about anything. We can’t thank Chloe, Hattie and Laura enough!”

Sophie & Ben’s Advice for Future Couples

When asked what advice they would give to other couples planning their wedding, Sophie and Ben emphasised the importance of enjoying the journey.

“Try to enjoy the planning process. It goes so fast, especially the wedding itself, so try and enjoy each moment.”

They also recommend choosing trusted suppliers and making use of the expertise available to you.

“I would go with Penn’s recommended suppliers or recommendations from other couples. And if you’re not sure of something, just ask. The Penn team were on hand for all of our queries and questions.”

Most importantly, they encourage couples to remember whose day it really is.

“It can be easy to get caught up in what other people want, but ultimately it’s your day, so do whatever makes you happy.”

Beautifully personal, effortlessly elegant and set against the stunning backdrop of the Dorset coastline, Sophie and Ben’s wedding perfectly showcased everything that makes Pennsylvania Castle Estate such a special place to celebrate. We’re so honoured they chose to spend their wedding weekend with us and wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
