Sail-Work Programme at The Penn Estate

Penn Estate Sail-Work Programme

In 2022, The Penn Estate Introduced the Sail-Work programme. A Programme designed for sailors training for competitions or a sailing career and are at a stage where they need flexible employment to pursue their goals.

We created the scheme for sailors to be able to provide us with their availability around their sailing schedules, to join us as valued members of our team here on The Estate.

The programme’s priority is to fit employment around training and competing.  We aim to remove the need to regularly persuade your employer to give you time off to prepare and compete. The team at the Penn Estate understand that the participant’s priorities will be their sailing career.

Lucy Kenyon:

We’ve recently caught up with Lucy, who joined us in June as part of the Sail-Work Programme this year and took the opportunity to understand what benefits she has found from becoming part of our team.

Lucy is currently in Olympic campaign training and has found her time here enjoyable. Lucy says “I’ve really enjoyed working in the Hayloft since June and thank you for being so flexible with working around my training commitments”.

The Estate offers a £500 pa sponsorship after 3 months of employment for those working a minimum of 20 hours per week. We are thrilled to learn that Lucy will be putting her sponsorship towards purchasing a new sail for her world championships in January.

We wish Lucy the best of luck during her training, and hope to have her back on The Estate in the future!

If you are interested in joining us under this programme, please head to our jobs page below for more information on how to apply.
