Clifftops - Stone

Whilst the whole of Clifftops is a homage to Portland Stone it deserves to have a lodge to tell you more about the story of the stone. Worked stone, fossils, dinosaurs, and the globalization of the material from this little Island are all here.

As you walk through the solid entrance doors that sit behind massive stone quoins you immediately look out across the planted roofs to the sea. Inside the door is space to take off your coat and kick off your boots before going down the staircase to the kitchen and lounge. On the one side of the stairs veneered oak panelling and the other polished Portland Stone with thousands of little sea creatures. The lounge has floor to ceiling window that look out to sea and slide away to grant access to the outside terrace. In the kitchen you can sit up at a boxed window that looks over the garden and the Jurassic coast beyond. You might be surprised by the angles if you look down at the heated tiled floor - we turned the windows by 30 degrees to make the view slightly different from each lodge.

Stone includes a Bose portable sound system, Broadband TV, an ipad for information and management, a washer drier and a fully fitted kitchen with high-quality fixtures, plates and glassware. Underfloor heating throughout is supplemented by a bespoke electric fire which provides additional heat and ambient lighting. Wifi included.

Internal and external lighting has been designed to minimise light pollution. Dimming lights have been programmed to allow guests to enjoy the seascape for as long as possible into the evening.
