Dining

Penn Castle offers guests a wide selection of eating options and a carefully selected collection of wines, from our own wine cellar launched in 2018.

Delivered directly to your accommodation, prepared for your arrival or picked up from the Hayloft Cafe, our eShop gives you the option to order in advance or during your stay, and to pay online or add to your booking.

Dining In

To keep things easy, we have a selection of Eat In options available to take the hassle out of preparing meals during your stay – so you can just eat, drink and enjoy your surroundings. Our Estate coffee shop and cafe, the Hayloft, is open all year with coffee, pastries, soups and savouries sourced from Dorset producers.

For arrival, we can can arrange for meals to be waiting for you in the fridge along with a bottle of wine from the Penn Estate Cellar: quick and easy to cook in the oven or microwave, so you can relax with a lovely meal, without the effort.

Hayloft

With a focus on healthy local produce with an indulgent twist, The Hayloft Café & Bar offers a wide range of delicious food and drink. As well as being available for private hire, The Hayloft is also home to the Penn Estate Cellar.

Trusted Suppliers

We’re proud of the area and proud to be situated in the heart of Dorset where so many high quality and logical producers can be found.

We are fortunate to work with local suppliers who share our interest in sustainability and offer something different to our guests. We know these suppliers well and each one of them has worked with us to create truly wonderful food and drink options across the Estate, and for any event.

Fountain Rock Coffee Roasters

As with so many things when many of us grew up in the area you suddenly realise one day that a company is run by people you know.   We were drinking the coffee before we realised the link and are so pleased that Andrew & Alice have found their own coffee company in Weymouth.

Liberty’s Cottage Bakery

Liberty is a self-taught baker, providing ‘The Hayloft’ with our sweet treats. Starting her business in her mums cottage kitchen in Portland, she has combined her love of baking and being creative to provide us with cakes that are not only tasty but look great too!

Lizzie Baking Bird

Lizzie provides The Hayloft with delicious sweet and savoury treats. She creates, makes and bakes in her own bakery, which is nestled on David Foot’s Higher Ashton Farm, right in the middle of the countryside.

Peppina Bakery

A bite of Sicily in the heart of Dorset. Peppina is a family-run business that takes pride in its authentic Sicilian recipes and ingredients. Providing ‘The Hayloft’ with a variety of savoury options, made locally in Poundbury, Dorchester

Arrive & Cook

Inspired by the taste of great home-cooking, their dream was to find a better way of doing business: working for people and the planet, not just profit. With locally sourced ingredients from farmers and suppliers they trust, their home cooked, freshly prepared meals are a great add on to cook on your arrival or during your stay.

Rolly’s Brownies

Rolly’s Brownies is based in Weymouth on the Dorset Coast, run by Helen Adams. Helen bakes to order using the best ingredients possible including free-range eggs from Sherborne and organic stoneground flour from Stoate and Sons in Shaftesbury. This ensures you get the freshest, gooiest brownies delivered to your door.

If you’re looking to eat out on the island during your stay there are lots of local pubs, cafes and restaurants for you to try, and we can always recommend somewhere to enjoy a good meal with good company.
